Is Facebook Going to Become a Search Engine?

Is Facebook a Google competitor? Facebook is launching an email-type tool which will integrate instant communications, and there are half-a-billion people putting up their highly coveted, personal data, likes, dislikes and updates on Facebook which Google et al would love to get their hands on.

The schism between the two companies and Bing as well, is that Facebook is into social networking and Google/Bing are into search, though with a range of other revenue strands behind them such as business apps.

Google Moves to Block Ranking Anomaly to Gain SEO Benefit by Being Bad to Customers

The New York Times carried a recent story of a Brooklyn fashion eyewear company, which was deliberately behaving badly to customers.
